Plant Capsule

One of our homework assignments to complete before arriving at Houston was to build a plant capsule that would help research in building capsules to grow plants in space.

Our capsules had to be made out of recyclable materials and small enough to fit in a shoebox.

I chose to make mine by cutting a water bottle in half, then turning the top upside-down and placing it inside the bottom.  When planting the seeds, I filled the bottom with water and added a paper towel through the hole to allow water to flow from the supply to the soil.

Here are my day-by-day pictures:

Day 3: Sprouts are noticed!

Day 5, have to leave it in the hotel because it couldn't travel with it, but ended up with 15 sprouts about 4mm in length!
